The Actor

By: Meghan Coley

I thought that March was the month of beginnings.

Beautiful, buoyant beginnings.
With you.
When I met you,
possibilities bloomed.
Everything seemed new.
I stood on the edge of unexplored cliffs.

I thought April would never pass.
I found my way out
of spring break’s endless hours,
offering too much
time to think
about you,
to wonder
where I went
wrong.

But perhaps it is true:
Time can heal some wounds.
Or are not all people
meant to stay in our lives?
They surely
enter
for a reason.
Whatever that reason may be,
God only knows.
And I’m alright
with that.
You had a short scene.
